Guide to Shopping and Shipping through vPOSTUSA

Here at vPOSTUSA, we have gathered some information on online shopping and how you can get the most out of your shipping through vPOSTUSA. We hope that this could guide you through and help you to enjoy more savings.

Shipping Tips

Stretching your shipping dollars
If you are shopping at a site that offers a wide range of products and intend to buy more than one item it is a good practise to buy items at one go (i.e in one checkout). This way, you will save on shipping and handling fees. Furthermore, when you accumulate your orders, some Merchants might even waive your local shipping charges based on your total value.

Items exceeding 20 kg in either volumetric/actual weight
As a precautionary practise, please be informed that for item exceeding 20 kg in either volumetric/actual weight, it will be shipped to your India address 2 weeks after your item has arrived at our vPOSTUSA and provided that your payment has been made accordingly.

Buying through PayPal Registered Shops
Please note that if you are getting items and paying through PayPal, do let us know the Merchant / Buyer name for ease of processing and to avoid a mismatch of item. Alternatively, you can send the Merchant receipt to us instead.

Packing of items
Fragile items or Special Care Items
We do not advise shipping of Fragile or Special Care items. However, if you need to, please ensure proper packaging by your Sender. We do not take responsibility for any damages that may occur during the entire handling, shipping and delivery from the vPOSTUSA address to your India address.

Reduction in volumetric weight
For items under the 'Others' Category, you can advise Merchants/Sellers (in the case of buying through auction websites) to pack the items as compact as possible under "Special Instructions". This way, you can prevent yourself from being over-charged on the volumetric weight.

On-time delivery
Remember to include your VP Number in your delivery address to ensure smooth transition and process. Please inform us if your orders are arriving in split packages. Insufficient information may result in delay in shipment.

Estimation of shipping charges
We have a vPOSTUSA calculator that allows you to estimate the shipping charges. You can check with your Merchant regarding the dimensions and the weight of the parcels. Then, make use of our calculator to estimate your shipping charges.

Invoice
Always save/keep a copy of your invoice or receipt that you have purchased from your US Merchant.

Clearance of Items
Use of vPOSTUSA, for items above USD2500, please fill up the Special Customs Declaration form. Click here for the form. Please ensure that all information are correctly entered to ensure smooth delivery of the item from US to India.

Always buy from businesses you know and trust.
Always check reviews and reliability of the site. Never divulge any personal information without knowing the background of the site.

Shop around and do your research.
Use sites like Dealtime.com, Mysimon.com, Addall.com or pricegrabber.com to compare prices and to enjoy good bargains. For reviews, go to sites like cnet.com or dvdreview.com to read about the electronic product or DVD that you want to get.

Return and refunds policies.
Check return and refund policies like when or how should you report for refunds and on what basis you can ask for a refund. Some Merchants do not refund after certain number of days or certain packages removed. Do read the US Merchants' Terms and Conditions carefully.

Track your purchases.
It is a good practice to buy from sites that offer delivery guarantees and tell you whether your item is in stock. Some sites will not send you confirmation email on the items you order. So print out web pages, receipts or any correspondence to protect yourself.

Reveal of personal information.
Never reveal informational details like credit cards numbers, passwords or account information via email. Most companies would not ask sensitive information via email. Always check the credibility of the person asking for your information. Even if there’s a link to verify your information, ensure that the URL contains <merchant>.com.
